Brian Owens serves as a Risk Control Manager for Lovitt & Touché. He specializes in hazard and risk assessment, safety cultural development, behavior-based safety, MSHA/OSHA compliance and EHS Management Systems (ISO, OHSAS).
With more than 10 years of experience as a health and safety professional in several industries, including mining, construction, pipeline, oil and gas, manufacturing and fabrication, Brian is also skilled in workplace safety auditing, safety procedure and policy development, supervisor development, employee training and safety incentive programs.
He conceptualized Lovitt & Touché’s Inversion Risk Management philosophy and has authored the newly released book Inversion and the Perspective-Based Safety Culture.
Before joining Lovitt & Touché, Brian served five years active duty with the U.S. Army, deploying to Iraq in 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.
Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University.
Brian is an accomplished singer-songwriter and has performed across the southwest for more than 10 years. He also dabbles in photography, painting and writing. In addition to the arts, Brian and his family share a collective love for the outdoors, travel and football.
